Alpharent car rental terms and conditions

RESERVATIONS

Reservations can be made electronically, by filling out a reservations form at www.alpharent.gr  or by calling us at 0030 2310700600.  Reservations made 48 hours prior to rental, can only take place by phone.  In the case of an electronic request, ALPHA RENT will send you a confirmation of your reservation.

All reservations are made by choosing a category of the car requested, and not for a specific make of a car.

AGE

The driver must be 23 years old and over, to rent cars in categories B, BC, C, CD and D.  The driver must be 25 years and older to rent cars in the categories E, EF, and F.  We are unable to rent cars to senior citizens over the age of 70.

DRIVING LICENSE

The driver must hold a legal European Union driving license that was issued at least a year prior to the rental.  In the event that the driving license was issued from third world countries, the driver must have an International driver’s license which accompanies the license that was issued by their country.

The driver’s license, passport or identification card must be in their original form.  Fax or photocopies of the above documents are not acceptable.

PAYMENT OPTIONS

Payment takes place at the beginning of the rental period in cash, or by credit card.  In case of an extension, payment will take place after a verbal agreement.

PICK UP – DROP OFF

There is no extra charge for pick-up or drop-off, if this is done from the ALPHA RENT desk located at the Macedonian Airport of Thessaloniki, at the Central Train Station (OSE), or at the Intercity Bus Terminal (KTEL) from 7:00 to 21:00 daily.

If either the pick-up or drop-off is outside the hours stated, there is an extra charge of 20€.

If both pick-up and drop-off are outside the hours stated, there is an extra charge of 30€.

The above charges are also applicable to Official Public Holidays.

If it is agreed for the pick-up and drop-off to be outside the designated areas, then the payment will take place after a verbal agreement.

FUEL POLICY

The vehicle should be returned with the same amount of fuel it had when it was picked up.  Otherwise, the client will be charged for the replacement of fuel used.  There is no refund for fuel that has not been used.

CHARGE BY KILOMETRE

Free mileage is given to cars rented over the 3 day period.  For rentals up to 3 days, the free kilometers given are 150 daily.  Any additional mileage is charged at 0.10/km plus VAT.

ADDITIONAL DRIVER

There is no additional charge for a second driver.

CHILDREN SEAT

Available upon request.

The first requested car seat is provided free of charge.  Any additional ones are at a charge of 1€ per day.  For safety reasons, the car seats are secured by the parents.

SNOW CHAINS

Available upon request.

Snow chains are provided for free.  The renter is only charged if they are used.  The possible amount charged is between 15€ to 30€, depending on the size of the tires.

GPS

Available upon request.

The charge for the use of a GPS is 3€ per day with the minimum charge being 10 €, and the maximum being 60€.

CROSSING GREEK BORDERS

Driving the car beyond the Greek borders is forbidden.

CAR TRANSPORT BY BOAT

The transportation of car by boat is only allowed with an approved pre-request from ALPHA RENT.  The car is not covered by any insurance for any damage caused to the rented car during the boat/ferry ride or while at the port.

TRAFFIC FINES

Fines and any other traffic violations rest entirely and exclusively on the tenant who is obliged to pay them at the appropriate authorities.

LEASE EXTENSION

The renter will have to inform ALPHA RENT of any lease extension at least two days before the contract expires.  This is accepted upon availability, and payment is done after the agreement is finalized.  In the event the car is not returned on the day and time specified in the contract, ALPHA RENT picks up the car from the current locations and any additional costs caused will be charged to the renter.  If the car is returned earlier than agreed, there will be no refund made.

DAMAGE – ACCIDENTS

In the event of any accidents or damage to the car, the renter is obliged to inform ALPHA RENT immediately, otherwise, none of the damages will be covered and the renter will be obliged to pay for all damages in full, even if they have chosen full insurance coverage.  Car replacement takes place at the headquarters of ALPHA RENT within 48 hours for the period of 15/9 to 14/6, and within 72 hours for the period from 15/6 to 14/9.

INSURANCE

1.COMPREHENSIVE INSURANCE WITH PARTIAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR DAMAGE

Your contribution in the event of an accident is::

500€ for cars in categories B, BC, CD

600€ for cars in categories C, D

800€ for cars in category E

1000€ for cars in categories EF, F

The above contribution does not include 23% VAT.

The above contribution also requires a valid credit card, as guarantee, in the name of the driver, or 200€ for car categories B, BC, C, CD, and D, 300€ for car categories E, and 500€ for categories EF and F.

Debit, prepaid and MAESTRO cards are not accepted.

2.COMPREHENSIVE INSURANCE WITHOUT CONTRIBUTION

The renter is relieved from the above payments to the restoration of the damage, if in the beginning of payment, they had chosen the comprehensive insurance without contribution.

The charges for comprehensive insurance without contribution per day is:

3€ for categories B, BC, and CD

4€ for category C

5€ for category D

7€ for Category E, EF

10€ for category F

The above stated insurances do not cover damage made to the bottom of the car, the tires, hubcaps,  glass/mirrors, the inside of the car (seat burns, breakage to, or lost components of the car, as well as loss or damage to the keys).

ADDITIONAL INSURANCE

The renter can choose to get additional insurance to cover damage to glass/mirrors and to the wheels at the additional daily cost of:

2€ for categories B, BC, CD, C

3€ for categories D, E, EF

4€ for category F

No insurance covers:

A driver who is not listed on the rental agreement.

A driver who has been driving under the influence of alcohol

For not driving on not properly asphalted roads (dirt roads).

PERSONAL INFORMATION

During the course of the lease, ALPHA RENT has the right to use the renter’s information in case the terms and conditions of the agreement are broken.
